The first time we checked in with the elton john tours were in 2016, when the two were together for a week-long tour in London and Edinburgh.
The second time we saw the tour, we visited the studio where the recording of their latest album, I Love You, was being done.
The first one took us to a private studio in the back of a hotel in the Scottish town of Dumfries, and the second one took we to the studios where the record was being recorded.
The elton John tour in Edinburgh was much more intimate, featuring a private stage with a stage set up on a balcony overlooking the city’s iconic skyline.
Elton John and the EPs 12th Anniversary Tour, Edinburgh, Scotland (2016)In a way, both tours were more intimate than the first one.
Elton John took us on an intimate tour of the studio, which was the first time he had actually put his own name on the record, and also the first tour we were allowed to see the recording studio itself.
In the studio itself, the sound was better and the sound effects more immersive, though we still had to wear earbuds while we listened to the recorded track.
The tour also included a photo shoot with Elton and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and a live performance of their song, We Are the World, by the band Black Keys.
The photo shoot was more intimate and the band did not wear earphones while they did it, though.
It was also the last time the tour was to include any footage from the record itself.
We were able to catch a glimpse of the album cover when the tour ended, but not before Elton gave us a tour of his studio, complete with an exclusive photo shoot.
The tour ended with a night of dancing in a hotel room.
On the tour’s final night, the EPRs team were able see the record’s artwork for the first (and only) time, as well as an interview with Elmont.
It’s a tour worth making if you’re ever in Edinburgh or Edinburgh, and it’s a very special tour.
